Best math teacher I've ever had. I took MATH 147 and 172 with him- he posts helpful online notes that allow you to stay focused during lectures, and genuinely cares about making sure everyone understands. I've always loved math, but he truly makes it fun by bringing lots of energy and his unique sense of humor to the classroom.
We will use clickers for various kinds of assessment: pop quizzes, homework quizzes, in class discussion, etc. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in PHYS 218 or PHYS 206; grade of C or better in MATH 152 or MATH 172 or equivalent; also taught at Galveston campus. Goal: Master the fundamentals of physics to open the way to understanding subsequent.
This is a suggested plan and does not have to be followed as laid out below. Students should use this information in conjunction with advising documents available from their advisor or the department website when scheduling courses each semester to ensure they are meeting all prerequisites, taking courses for admission to professional phase in a timely manner and meeting all grade requirements.
MATH 151 is basically the standard Calculus 1 class, whereas MATH 171 is the Calculus 1 class for math majors and is somewhat recommended for science majors. MATH 151 is just a practical class where you learn how to do basic calculus. MATH 171 is a proof-based class, going in more depth into how everything works.

Download appropriate client from X2go's offical website; X2Go installation instructions; If you are not on the TAMU hardwire or wifi network, you will need to start a VPN session, via connect.tamu.edu. The VPN service is provided by TAMU Division of IT.
Dr. Whitfield was a very caring and sweet woman however, she wasn't the best a teaching math. She goes so fast that I would get lost and not understand, she would also skip steps. I sometimes felt like it was a waste attending class because I would leave understanding nothing. I spent hours at TutorHub for help with the homework and still got a D.
As a student in Math 152, your obligations will be set and announced by your individual instructors, and you will find them out only by attending your own class. Lectures are held twice each week. There is an workshop each week. We DO NOT cancel workshops that have their first meeting before the first lecture.
